TMNZ Orange Walk

Get ready for the TMNZ Schools’ Orange Walk

The TMNZ Schools’ Orange Walk returns to Mount Mainstreet on Thursday 26 November, celebrating the commitment of more than 1,000 Western Bay students to road safety and active travel.

Starting and finishing at Coronation Park, the walk will travel along Maunganui Road to Pacific Avenue and back, with students, school road patrollers, bus monitors and Travel Safe and Travel Smart leaders taking part alongside NZ Police and event organisers.

This year’s event coincides with a cruise ship visit, giving us another opportunity to showcase the Mount’s welcoming business community. We encourage businesses and their teams to wear orange, decorate shopfronts and cheer on the students as they pass through the town.

A heads-up for businesses: temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place on the morning of the event. Maunganui Road will be closed between Banks Avenue/Salisbury Avenue and Pacific Avenue from 9am to 11am, with increased pedestrian activity and some parking restrictions expected in the area.

The opening speeches begin at 9.15am, with the walk starting at 9.30am and expected to finish around 10am.

Let’s get behind these young local leaders and help make them feel welcome on Mount Mainstreet!
